Whether you need 1 custom shaft or 5,000 precision bushings, we can handle your requirements. Our Swiss screw machining is ideal for medium to high-volume production of small diameter parts. Prototype and small batch orders (1-100 parts) typically ship in 24-48 hours.

What types of threading can you do on CNC lathes?

We perform all standard threading operations including metric threads (M3 to M64), UNC/UNF imperial threads (1/4-20 to 2-8), BSP/BSPT pipe threads, ACME threads, trapezoidal threads, and custom thread profiles. Our CNC lathes can cut external threads, internal threads, multi-start threads, and left-hand/right-hand threads. Thread tolerances meet ISO 2768 standards and tighter if required. We also offer thread rolling for high-strength applications and thread milling for larger diameters.

What is the difference between CNC turning and Swiss machining?

CNC turning uses a stationary workpiece held in a chuck while the cutting tool moves to remove material. It's ideal for parts up to 500mm diameter and is cost-effective for medium to large diameter components. Swiss screw machining uses a sliding headstock where the workpiece moves through a guide bushing while tools remain stationary. Swiss machines excel at high-precision, small diameter parts (0.5mm to 38mm) with length-to-diameter ratios of 10:1 or greater. Swiss machining provides superior concentricity, straightness, and can perform multiple operations (turning, drilling, milling, threading) in a single setup. We recommend Swiss machining for medical devices, electronics components, and high-volume production of small precision parts.

What surface finishes can you achieve with CNC turning?

Our standard CNC turning delivers Ra 1.6 to Ra 3.2 surface finish. With fine finishing passes and sharp tooling, we achieve Ra 0.8 to Ra 0.4 for precision applications. For ultra-smooth finishes, we offer grinding (Ra 0.2 to Ra 0.05) and polishing (Ra 0.025 or mirror finish). We can also provide specific surface treatments including knurling (diamond or straight patterns), grooving, chamfering, and radius profiling. All turned parts can be post-processed with anodizing (Type II or Type III), electroplating (zinc, nickel, chrome), powder coating, heat treatment, or passivation for stainless steel.
